Description

On January 21, 1921, the Communist Party of Italy was founded in Livorno, destined to become, under the name of PCI, the largest communist party in the West. Forced into hiding during Fascism, the PCI became the second Italian party after the Second World War after the Christian Democrats, always remaining faithful to the directives of the Soviet Union.
The years of the PCI's greatest electoral success were those of the "historic compromise", a formula launched by Enrico Berlinguer, to bring about the historic meeting between Communists and Catholics predicted by Gramsci and Togliatti.
In the study, the PCI he is and will remain a communist, which appeared in 1976, Father Antonio Caruso showed that Berlinguer worked in perfect coherence with Bordiga, Togliatti and Gramsci, the three architects of the Communist Revolution in Italy in the twentieth century, who continue to be celebrated by the dominant culture and political class. We republish this study by changing its title.

Father Antonio Caruso (1919-2010) of the Society of Jesus, after having been part, between 1958 and 1963, of a secret group of Jesuits who, with the support of their superiors and the Vatican, actively militated against communism, he was political editor of La Civiltà Cattolica and worked for 18 years at the Vatican Secretariat of State. Among his many works: White comrades and red comrades: when Italy was sliding towards the Kremlin (SEDIC, 1992); Between grandeur and squalor (Viverein Editions, 2008); St. Ignatius Licensed (Editors Guide, 2015).
