Description
Father Giuseppe Tissot was born in Annecy (Savoy) on 1 September 1840 and was ordained a priest on 30 May 1863, entering the congregation of the Missionaries of Saint Francis de Sales that same year. Gifted with extraordinary eloquence and an equally profound spirituality, he traveled through France to preach retreats in colleges, parishes, religious communities. From 1872 to 1880 he dedicated himself to the spiritual renewal of Savoy of which he was one of the main architects. In 1880 he was elected superior general of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales and superior of the Daughters of the Cross of Chavanod. He died in Annecy on 2 August 1894. According to St. Francis de Sales published in 1879, the Art of using one's own faults has done great good to souls and can continue to do so in the age of spiritual confusion we are going through.
